Granada, Spain-the Alhambra

Granada I was named a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1984. it is located at the foot of Suerra Nevada Mountains in Andalucia. It is best known for the Alhambra, a grand hilltop fortress wth Rotal palaces, serene patios, reflecting pools and gardens from the Nasrid dynasty.
It dates to 5500 BC.

The Alhambra rises up on the banks of the River Darro protected by mountains and surrounded by woods. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royality and the court of Granada in the 13th century after the establishment of the Basdrid Kingdom.
Throughout the 13th,14th and 15th centuries the fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers. The complex of monuments also has an independent palace, opposite the Alhambra, surrounded by orchards and gardens: the General life.

Reasons to visit: History, beautiful architecture dating to BC, gardens.

Tickets for the Alhambra should be bought at least 3 weeks in advance.
I arranged a tour through Viator which was well worth it. They partnered with Granavision. The guide was Enrique and very knowledgeable.
